José Mourinho, regarded by many as the best manager and one of the greatest managers of all time, is the current manager of Chelsea FC. Even though often surrounded by media controversies, no one doubts managerial credentials of the self-proclaimed ‘The Special One’.
After a misfired career as central midfielder in the 2nd
Portuguese division, he turned towards managing clubs. Starting out as an
interpreter for Sir Bobby Robson, he impressed with his managerial periods at
S.L. Benfica and U.D. Leiria., taking the latter to their highest ever league
finish.
José moved back to Porto in 2002 as F.C. Porto manager
winning the Portuguese league twice, two domestic cups, UEFA CUP in
2002-03(currently known as UEFA Europa League) and UEFA Champions League in
2003-04.Mourinho’s Porto win against Sir Alex Ferguson’s
Manchester United foreshadowed a move to Premier League club Chelsea FC, an
interesting prospect at that time, where he called himself ‘The Special One’.
At Chelsea FC, he won the Barclays Premier League in consecutive seasons
2004-05 and 2005-06 after ‘The Invincibles’ Arsenal F.C. He also won four
domestic cups.
Arriving at Inter after a controversial exit from Chelsea, he went on to win the Serie A back to back, 3 Domestic cups and Champions League defeating Bayern 2-0, the second treble of his career.
In 2010, José left for Real Madrid to take over from
Manuel Pelligrini. After a disappointing 5-0 defeat against archrivals
Barcelona, he dominated the later El Clásicos. The Blancos won the La Liga in
2011-2012. He made to the semi-finals of UEFA Champions League in each of the
three seasons at Santiago Bernabéu.
José Mourinho has won FIFA World Coach of the Year, UEFA Manager of the Year(2
times), UEFA Team of the Year(4 times) and many more individual awards. In
short, he has won it all. He is the only manager to take four different teams
to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League making him ‘The Special One’.
Players like Carvalho,Deco, Lampard, Terry, Cech, Drogba,
Muntari, Balotelli, khedira, Özil, Ángel di María and many more became
‘winners’ under José’s tutelage.
He’s won everything he can. Most coaches pale in terms of
silverware. One criticism that can still be levelled at José though is that his
teams have been bought. Bought for hefty fees sure, but perfected by José.
Now, ‘The Special One’ has become ‘The Happy One’ after
returning to Stamford Bridge, a place where he is loved. Chelsea are currently
at the top of the table and have defeated the league giants Manchester City in
both the league fixtures. Things are looking good for the Blues. We will just
have to wait and see if José’s second coming makes them champions again.

He is indeed "the special one" and one of the very best that we have today (coming from a united fan :P).
ReplyDeleteBut I think he can still do away with his gimmicks or so called mind games.
Looking forward for more posts !!! Keep it up.
Yaaaaa truly the special one as he has been successful with different teams brilliantly.
